Modifications: When the Dark Victory was in the service of the Dominion, her crew complement was 42. This is quite large for such a small ship, and very little space was given over to storage and accomodation. Since being appropriated by Starfleet, several modifications have been made to the interior of the ship to cater both for the practical requirments of missions (labs, equipment storage, etc), as well as the comfort of the crew.

The challenge which the design engineers faced was to implement these modifications while leaving the outward appearance of the ship intact. This was achieved by gutting much of the ship's interior and re-thinking the general lay-out.

The final plan has seen the twenty one small cells on deck two which once housed the Jem'Hadar troops converted to twelve compact but comfortable living quarters. This deck also contained a weapons storage area which has been converted into the ship's medical infirmary.

The oval chamber just off the bridge which formerly served as an "office" for the ship's Vorta has been enlarged slightly, and now serves as the Captain's Ready Room.

Adjacent to the engineering section on deck three is a large open area which was used by the Jem'Hadar for combat training and mission briefing. This area has been divided betweeen a communial mess, and a small holosuite. The ship's single replicator has been removed from engineering to the new mess area.

Overview Of Systems: Despite having studied a previously obtained Dominion vessel for almost twelve months, Starfleet science personnel have, as yet, been unable to gain more than a rudimentary understanding of how the systems of Dominion vessels work. Therefore, it has been decided that integration of Federation technology into existing systems should be kept to a minimum.

Where additional systems are required, such as in the new holosuite, the medical infirmary and the escape pods, these have been included as modular additions which are managed by a separate databank.

Sensor Equipment: Long range Sensors are contained in the main deflector array at the very front of the ship and are designed to function as normal sensors but can also be calibrated to listen in on sub-space transmissions and any other form of communication. Maximum effective range at high resolution scan is 25 light years. At low to medium resolution, 40 light years.
