General: William is the Fourth generation of Remington men to enter Star Fleet and graduate since the days of Captian James T. Kirk. William has led a sheltered and isolated life ever since his mother was killed by the Crystalline Entity on Omicron Theta when he was but a boy. Raised by his uncle after his father died at the battle of Wolf 359. Left his uncle to join Star Fleet Academy when he was old enough, gained entry a year after he left his uncle.

In his Junior year, because of failing grades, William left the Academy to help his uncle on his farm on Alpha Centuari after he had a mysterious accident. After his uncle died, William repeated his Junior year and graduated a year later in the top 10% of his class.

After achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer of the USS Essex, William met Lanel, a Malcorian native, while on an Away Mission to her home planet. The two fell in love and intended to marry. William left Starfleet and returned with Lanel to his home on Alpha Centuari. Days before their marriage, Lanel was killed. Someone had set fire to their house while she was sleeping and William was in the fields. Friends held him back from rushing in the house and dying with her. It left him an alone and shattered man with no hopes in the past and an unclear future.

2 months later William was coaxed back into service by long time friend Admiral Janny Jemison. Went back to the Academy to take courses in Special Tactics, Operation, and command because he felt his career was going know where in his current state. Achieved the rank of ensign and assigned to the USS Justice as chief of tactical and security, but these are not his only interests. William returned to the academy while the Justice was in spacedock, and took courses in Diplomatic procedures, which he finished a year and a half later.

After his almost near death experience at the hands of assassian and former friend Croswallian, William has taken up a form of fighting known as Escrima stick fighting to help with his reflexes, improve physical endurance, and discipline. Has been stationed on everything from a science and research vessel to a Nebula class Starship. Most postings seem short lived, but each experience has helped William grow as a person and emerge from the self-contained shell he formed after the death of Lanel. Hasn't had much success with the opposite sex.

Sometime after his posting on the Mandela, William was posted to a refitted USS Charleston, now a Nebula class vessle. As part of the fleet to stop the Dominion invasion, the Charleston was sent in to delay the advancement of Dominion ships until re-enforcements could be sent to help. The first volley of weapons fire exposed the hull to space and shields as well as weapons and life support were off line. William and the rest of the crew were unable to stop the waves of Jem�Hadar warriors as they attacked. He watched his CO and XO die before his eyes, and wished the same for himself. In an attempt to save a young operations ensign, William was taken as a Prisoner of War. Three months later, in one of the many Dominion mining camps in the Delta Quadrant, William took desperate measures to escape. He placed himself into stasis and launched his body(in a modified probe) out of a torpedo tube. For some reason, the Dominion didn�t seem to care that much, probably because he would have died had not the Trinity recovered the small capsule and revived him while on a discovery mission.

Medical: In good health.
Distinguishing features: goatee beard. During his stay in the camp, one of the prisoners tattooed William to cover up his designation number. He has no ambition to have to tattoo removed. It resembles a Maori-style tribal tattoo running from throat down left arm; jagged scar across his chin. A reminder of what happened to him.
Miscelaneous:In his career, William has developed a strong taste for the following: *coffee*, Finagle�s Folly(a friend gave him an old recipe from Doc. McCoy), Gamzain Wine(potent stuff), Hasperat (Bajoran burrito with a pickled filling. Good hasperat will make your eyes water.), Kanar (Cardassian drink), Muskan Seed Punch (Haliian beverage), and at least a dozen or so assorted alcoholic beverages as well as alien dishes.
